Digital Fashion Platform DressX Lets People Wear their Activism in Augmented Reality
At the onset of a war, a Ukrainian-Founded Startup reminds us of the Political Power of Fashion.
As the world watches with horror and heartbreak at the news of fresh bloodshed in Ukraine, one startup is leveraging its digital fashion platform as a tool for political activism.
DressX, an eCommerce site selling virtual outfits, has quickly produced a collection of digital apparel and accessories available for purchase. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and charitable organizations helping to aid those on the ground.
The collection, which includes a dress, bucket hat, earrings, and jumper, can also be worn in augmented reality and shared on social media in a movement of solidarity against a war no one wanted.
DressX, which was founded by Ukrainians Natalia Modenova and Daria Shapovalova, released a statement saying they created the collection as a way of starting a donation campaign for those in Ukraine.
We believe that no country or nationality in the world should be in war and conflict. Peace is our biggest virtue and the goal of humanity is to unite when someone needs help. The power of the community can do miracles. Let’s unite and do these miracles together!
We are also offering Support Ukraine AR looks free to use in the DRESSX App. We hope these looks can be used to unite and show your support for Ukraine during this time. #fashionforpeace
As fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli once said, “in difficult times, fashion is outrageous.” DressX reminds us that in outrageous times, fashion can be political.
