Randy Rubin: "Transforming Textiles"
On this week's episode of the Electric Runway podcast, fashion tech journalist Amanda Cosco has the pleasure of interviewing Randy Rubin, the founder of Crypton, a company that has been pioneering smart fabrics for almost 30 years. Crypton has made a name for itself in the upholstery industry by developing high-performance fabrics for furniture that are both stylish and stain-resistant. Now, through their recent acquisition of Nanotex, the company is turning its attention towards apparel.

Today's customer expects more from her clothing. The same outfit needs to carry us on our commute to work, through a busy business day, and then seamlessly transition into our social life at night. Randy thinks it's high time our fabrics got an upgrade. She says the rise of fitness clothes and athleisure have exposed consumers to the possibilities of high-performance fabrics, and there’s no going back. Through Nanotex, she's bringing smart fabrics to the masses via strategic partnerships with big-name retailers like Macy’s and Banana Republic.
